B to Sept. 28,'62. 1st Sgt. to Aug. 25,'62 when appointed to 2nd Lt.; prom. to 1st Lt. Sept. 15,'62; appointed Reg. Adj.and transferred from Co. B May 18,'63. A.A.D.C. to Gen. Meredith at Gettysburg and wounded in the right arm on July 1,'63.Was detached of 1st Brigade, 1st. Division at the time. Detatched on Staff of 4th Division, 5th Corps May 11,'65 to June 8,'64. James D. Ruggles, Q. Master. Enlisted June 12,'61 at Madison. Mustered into the service June 12,'61 by Capt. McIntyre. Resided at Madison, Dane Co. Discharged on Surgeon's Certificate of Disability Feb. 28,'63. Had been acting Brigade Q'Master Dec.4,'62 to Feb. 28,'63.

John G. MacCormac, Q'Master, 26 years of age and born in Ireland. Had Grey eyes, black hair, dark complexion and stood 5'7" tall. Enlisted May 2,'61 at Mineral Point by Capt. Allen. Enlisted to Rank March 1,'63 in the field. Mustered into service in Rank March 28,'63 in the field by Maj. C. H. McNeely. Resided Mineral Point, Iowa Co. Pvt. of Co. I to Feb,'62. Appt. Comm. Sgt. to June 25,'62; Q'Master Sgt. to March 1,'63 when appointed Lt. Q'Master A.A.Q.M. 1st Brigade, 1st Div, 1st Army Corps from Dec. 21,'63 to Apr. 20,'64 when relieved & joined the Regt. M.O. Sidney B. Mead, Serg. Major, 19 years old. Born in Racine, Wi., single, worked as a clerk. Enlisted April 20, '61 at Racine by W.E. Strong. He had hazel eyes, brown hair, a light complexion and stood 5' 7 1/2" tall. He was mustered into service June 11,'61 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. He resided in Racine. Appointed & transferred from Private of Co. F July 5,'63. Mustered out July 2,'64

Patrick W. Adams, Serg. Major, 45 years old. Born in Ireland, married, worked as a mechanic. Enlisted May 8,'61 at Janesville by Capt. Ely. He had blue eyes, brown hair, light complexion and stood 5' 10 3/4" tall. He was mustered into service June 11,'61 at Madison by Capt.McIntyre. He resided at Milton in Rock Co. Appointed and transferred from Private of Co. D. on Org. of the Regt. Discharged for disability July'61.

James N. Ruby, Serg. Major, 27 years old. Born in Ohio, single, indicated his occupation was Soldier. He was enlisted into service April 21at Oshkosh by Capt. Bouck. He had gray eyes, brown hair, a dark complexion, and stood 6' tall. He was mustered in June 11,'61 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. He resided at Oshkosh. Appointed & transferred from Sergt. of Co. E July 16,'61. Prom. to 2nd Lnt. & transferred to Co.E, Aug. 8,'61.

Melvin R. Baldwin, Serg. Major, 23 years old. Born in Vermont, single, occupation was an engineer. He enlisted April 21'61 at Oshkosh by Capt.Bouck.He had gray eyes, brown hair and a florid complexion. He stood 5' 9 1/2" tall. He was mustered into service June 11,'61 at Madison and resided at Oshkosh.. Appointed & transferred from Sergt. of Co. E Oct. 13,'61. Promoted to 2nd Lnt. & transferred to Co.E April 21,'62

William S. Winegar, Serg. Major, 20 years old. Born in New York, single, occupation of teacher.

Asa B. Griswold, Serg. Major, 24 years old. Born in St.Lawrence Co., New York State, single, occupation of carpenter. He enlisted April 26,'61 at Grant Co. by Capt. McKey. He had hazel eyes, brown hair, light complexion and stood 5'10 3/4" tall. He was mustered in June 11,'61 at Madison and resided at Lancaster, Grant Co. He was Appointed and Transferred from Sergt. of Co.C, Aug.24,'61. Died of disease at Washington, D.C. Oct.11,'61.

George H. Legate, Serg. Major, 24 years old. Born in Rhode Island, single, occupation of layer. He enlisted April 26,'61 at Mineral Point by Capt. Allen. He had hazel eyes, black hair, dark complexion and stood 5'4" tall. He was mustered in June 11,'61 at Madison and resided at Mineral Point, Iowa Co. He was Appointed and Transferred from Sergt. of Co. I April 1,'63. Died at Gettysburg, Penn. July 3,'63 of wounds received in battle at that place July 1,'63

John B. Thompson, Q. M. Sergt, 24 years old, single, occupation of clerk. He enlisted April 20,'61 at Oshkosh by Capt. Bourk. He had hazel eyes, brown hair, a florid complexion and stood 5' 8 1/2" tall. He was mustered in June 11,'61 at Madison and resided at Oshkosh. He was Appointed and Transferred from Sergt. of Co E. July 1,'62 to Comm. Sergt. Appointed Gr. Mr. Sergt.March 16,'63, Must.out July 2,'64

Wallace M. Spear, Q.M. Sergt., 28 years old. single, occupation of surveyor. He enlisted April 18,'61 at LaCrosse by Capt. Cowell. He had blue eyes, light hair and a light complexion and stood 5'5" tall. He was mustered in June 11,'61 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. He resided at LaCrosse. Appointed and transferred from Sergt. of Co. B Sept.'61. Discharged to accept Prom. as 2nd Lieut in 1st Wis.Hvy Artillery, Feb. 1,'62.

Mahlon P. Barry, Q.M. Sergt., 25 years old. Born in New York, single, occupation of Lawyer. He was enlisted April 23,'61 at Racine by W.E. Strong. He had blue eyes,light hair, light complexion and stood 5'6" tall. He was mustered in June 11,'61 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. He resided at Racine. Appointed and Transferred from Sergt. of Co. F, Feb. 2,'62, reduced to ranks and transferred to Co. F June 25,'62

John Higgins, Com. Sergt., 21 years old and born in New Hampshire. He was single and indicated his occupation was student. He was enlisted into service April 23,'61 at Racine by W.E. Strong. He had brown hair, brown eyes, light complexion and stood 5'5" tall. He was mustered June 11,'61 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. He resided at Racine. Promoted and Transferred from Corp. of Co F, March 16,'63. Must. out July 2,'64

William W. Allen, Hospital Steward, 27 years old. Born in New York and was a Doctor. He was enlisted December 19, 1861 at Madison by Capt. LaMott. He had grey eyes, brown hair and a light complexion and stood 5' 8 1/2" tall. He was mustered into service December 19, 1861 by Capt. LaMott. Appointed and transferred from Private of Co. H, May 11, 1862. Discharged by order of the War Department to accept appointment as Hospital Steward in the Regular Army, December 2, 1862.

James A. Stanton, Principal Musician, 42 years old. He was born in England, was single and a gunsmith. He was enlisted into service April 19, 1862 at Portage by Capt. Mansfield. He had hazel eyes, light hair and sallow skin and stood 5' 7" tall. He was mustered into service June 11, 1861 at Madison by Captain McIntyre. He resided at Portage. Appointed and transferred from Company G, May 1, 1863. Mustered out July 2, 1864.

Fredrick A. Dyke, Principal Musician, 63 years old. He was married and enlisted into service at Madison by Col. S. P. Coon June 11, 1861. He was mustered in the same date by Captain McIntyre. He resided at Madison in Dane Co. He was discharged by the War Department November 22, 1861.

Jeremiah Moore, Principal Musician, 38 years old. He was married and was enlisted into service June 11, 1861 by Col. S. P. Coon at Madison. He was mustered in the same date by Capt. McIntyre. He resided at LaCrosse in LaCrosse Co. He was discharged by order of the War Department, November 22, 1861.

Anson Linscott, Principal Musician, 16 years old. He was born in New York and claimed the occupation of carpenter. He was enlisted into service June 6, 1861 by Col. Mansfield at Portage. He had blue eyes. light hair and light skin and was 5' 5" tall. . He as mustered into service June 11, 1861 by Capt. McIntyre at Madison. Transferred and promoted from Co. G , May 1, 1862. Reduced and transferred to Co. G., October 14, 1862.

Lewis A. Briggs, Principal Musician, 17 years old. He was born in St. Lawrence Co., New York and stated he was a farmer. He was enlisted into service December 16, 1861 at Oshkosh by Lnt. Meredith. He had blue eyes, light hair and a light complexion. He was mustered into service December 16, 1861 by Capt. La Mott. He was transferred and promoted from Company E. Transferred to Independent Battalion on June 10, 1864. Company A.
