We learned this past week about the passing of one of our comrades, Fred Cook.

We knew him as our comrade in the field, a musician, a skirmisher and most recently as the chaplain of the 2nd WI.  Whenever and wherever the 2nd WI met as a group, Fred was there in one or these roles. The years may have slowed him physically but his zeal and love of our hobby and the 2nd WI never dimmed.

His family knew him as a husband and a father. He always spoke in glowing terms of his wife Betty, his children and his grandchildren.

Everyone knew him for his winning smile, warm greetings, infectious laughter and positive outlook in life.  Fred was one of those people that you were always genuinely glad to see at an event and he loved to share his joy for life with everyone.

His passing saddens us but we are cheered by the knowledge that we were lucky enough to have shared time with this remarkable man.  May we all take a lesson on how to live our lives from his example.

We will miss you Fred and we know that you are in God’s house watching over us.
