Dear everyone:
Here is the latest on the green Bay event.

I have been involved with the event for the past 8 years, and I want to thank all for the support and
dedication the reenactors have shown through the past 9 years.
You have done a great service to the people of NE Wisconsin, and should be commended for it.
Again, thank you all.
sincerely
David Dresang

Dear Reenactors:
As promised, here is the information regarding the event held at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay.
I had a meeting with the staff of the Museum yesterday (November 28th) and here are the results:
The event has been officially cancelled.
I know for many, this is not the news you had hoped for, I had hoped the event would continue for a couple
more years, but the Museum has decided to go in a different direction, and unfortunately, it does not include
holding events such as ours. The reasons offered by the Museum are many, a decline in spectator attendance
being the main reason, and they have several other reasons. (Ones that at this time do not concern the event or us)
I would like to offer my personal THANK YOU to all of you that have ever attended the event. It is your presence
and dedication that helped brings a high quality event to the people of NE Wisconsin.
With your help, we have managed to keep alive the spirit and memory of ALL those that lived, fought and
participated (in whatever way they could) during those terrible four years of War.
I have heard nothing but praise, and thanks from spectators as they visited the museum; you brought history
alive, dispelled the myths and taught what it was really like.
I offer my thank you to all who worked so hard at helping us at our Workdays, cleaning the battlefield was no
easy task, I remember our first year in the battlefield when we were pulling car parts, and all sorts of debris from the
field, where we actually spent a couple of weeks cleaning, just trying to prepare the field to make it safe enough for all.
Each year, numbers of you came out to help (some at quite a distance) with our media blitz days (Jamie showing off
his holy shoes to the news media! Did they ever feel sorry for him and Dutchie by his side)
I remember our first year when we had a total of 50 reenactors and 1 sutler, no artillery, our camps were only a stones
throw from each other to what is has now become today.
We tried many different things to keep it fresh (the parade was Chuck’s idea!! Sorry Chuck) and it worked, you
should be commended for your help, your knowledge and the willingness to share that knowledge with others.
I also would like to thank Bill Berkey (I believe the only person that the ghoulies were afraid of) for the countless hours
that he spent shaping and molding the battlefield, it was he that built the fortifications (with some help, but did it mainly
by himself) for his planning of the battle scenarios, and his support.
And lastly, my undying thanks to the committee members, who spent so many countless hours on the event, fundraising,
planning, working the battlefield, setting up the grounds, the meetings and frustrations that come with it, the joy at seeing it
grow, and the heartache of seeing it end. The great support and dedication that they have shown to make sure that it
remained a HIGH QUALITY event, and than you Chuck for getting the event started, and your continued support, he
is the only committee member that has been with the event for all 9 years!
I could go on, but it would probably end up being a book, so know this, you have done a fantastic job, and a
great service to both, the boys in blue and gray and you should be thanked, over and over.
Very sincerely
1st Lt. David Dresang
